The Provincial Government announced on October 22, 2021, the release of its Plan to Safely Reopen Ontario and Manage COVID-19 for the Long Term, which outlines the gradual lifting of public health and workplace safety measures by March 2022. The dates identified in this plan are tentative and based on all key public health benchmarks being achieved.
The first significant change became effective Monday, October 25, 2021. Capacity limits have been lifted where proof of vaccination is required in restaurants and bars, sports and recreational fitness facilities, casinos and gaming establishments, and indoor meeting and event spaces. Other settings such as museums and galleries, religious services, rites, or ceremonies, tour and guide services, and personal care services, are permitted to lift capacity limits if they require proof of vaccination. See the plan for full details.
“This is great news for our community and for businesses continuing to recover from the impacts of COVID-19,” stated Lord Mayor Betty Disero. “We’ve been complying with all necessary regulations and guidelines and it is wonderful to see our hard work is paying off. Let’s keep it up! That light at the end of the tunnel just keeps getting brighter.”
“The Town will continue to adapt to all changes rolled out by the Province, keeping public health and safety a top priority,” stated Marnie Cluckie. “Thank you to everyone for your patience and cooperation. As always, we navigate new waters best when we work together.”
