The Volunteer Public Educator position with The Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire & Emergency Services focuses on supporting Fire and Life Safety Education Programs by delivering comprehensive training and programming to the community. They are responsible for teaching diverse audiences about fire prevention measures, emergency preparedness, and the proper use of fire and life safety equipment such as Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms. Ideal candidates will possess teaching or training experience, adeptness in various instructional methods across different age groups, and knowledge of Ontario Fire Code regulations, particularly concerning Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms. This role requires effective communication skills, including public speaking, and a commitment to educating people of all ages, from children to seniors, on various safety topics. Volunteers must be flexible with their availability to accommodate public education events scheduled throughout weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays, ensuring widespread community outreach and engagement in fire and life safety initiatives.
