Dog Licences

In an effort to support our local dog owners and ensure that lost dogs are returned to their owners in a timely fashion, all dogs in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake must have a license in accordance with By-law 4512-11, as amended. Niagara-on-the-Lake loves dogs, and if you are visiting this page, it can be assumed that you love dogs, too!

Every Niagara-on-the-Lake dog owner is required to register their dog(s) with the Town and pay an annual registration fee, as outlined below.  All dog licenses expire on December 31 of the year printed on the tag, and registration must be renewed annually before January 1 of the calendar year.  Dog Licenses for the following calendar year are available beginning October 1. All dogs in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake are required to have a current year’s license within 14 days of being acquired or moving into Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Each year, Niagara-on-the-Lake dogs are quickly reunited with their owner because they were found wearing a current tag. Registration information is updated annually so Town Staff can respond promptly.
