Niagara Transit Microtransit
What is Microtransit?
Microtransit is an on-demand, shared-ride transit service operated by Niagara Transit. It provides flexible transportation to and from locations within the Niagara-on-the-Lake community, helping connect residents to areas not served by fixed bus routes.
Microtransit offers curb-to-curb service within Niagara-on-the-Lake, meaning riders are picked up and dropped off close to their requested locations.
If you are travelling outside Niagara-on-the-Lake, Microtransit can connect you to the broader Niagara Transit system for transportation.
How to Book a Microtransit Ride
Riders can book trips using one of the following methods:
- Niagara Transit Plus (NTPlus) App
- Online: book.niagaratransitplus.rideco.com
- By Phone: 1-833-678-5463 (Option 1)
Trips can be pre-booked up to 7 days in advance.
How to Use Microtransit
- Enter your Niagara-on-the-Lake pickup location, destination, and desired arrival time using the NTPlus app, website, or phone booking.
- Select the number of riders and note any accessibility needs (e.g., seniors, youth, mobility devices).
- Track your ride in real time using the NTPlus app.
- Be ready at your pickup location when the vehicle arrives.
- Pay your fare to the driver and request a transfer if needed.

Specialized Transit (Niagara-on-the-Lake)
What is Specialized Transit?
Specialized Transit is an application-based, shared-ride service for people with mental or physical disabilities that significantly impact their ability to use regular transit services.
Trained operators provide enhanced support, including assistance from your door to the vehicle and help with mobility devices.
Eligibility & Service Area
- Eligibility is determined based on the practical challenges a person faces using conventional transit, not solely on medical diagnosis.
- Factors such as age, income, or the availability of regular transit services do not affect eligibility.
Important for Niagara-on-the-Lake residents:
- Specialized Transit trips can currently be booked into or out of Niagara-on-the-Lake only.
- Specialized Transit trips within Niagara-on-the-Lake are not available currently.
- Service levels and hours vary across the Niagara Region.
Residents should refer to Niagara Transit for guidelines specific to other municipalities.
How to Apply for Specialized Transit
Applying requires completion of a two-part application form:
- Part One: Personal information
- Part Two: Must be completed by a medical professional
Applications can be:
- Completed online
- Downloaded from the Niagara Transit website
- Picked up at a transit terminal
- Requested by mail
Application processing time is approximately two weeks.
Support Persons
Approved riders who require a support person may travel with them at no additional cost, provided this need is indicated by a medical professional on the application. Support persons must use a valid support person pass.
