Lottery Licences

Application forms, Terms & Conditions, and Report forms for lottery licences can either be picked up at the Clerk's Department in the Town Administration Building or downloaded from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario website at www.agco.ca.

Application Timelines
The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake follows the same submission timelines as the AGCO.

  • Returning applicants: Applications must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the event date.
  • New applicants: Applications must be submitted at least 45 days prior to the event date.

Applications received after these timelines may not be processed in time for your event.

Licence Fees

  • When the total value of the prize is $299 or less, the licence fee is $2.00.
  • When the total value of the prize is $300 or more, the licence fee is 3% of the total prize value.

Example: For a $500 prize, the licence fee would be $15.00.

Lottery Report Requirement
A Lottery Report must be completed and submitted to the Clerk’s Department within 30 days after the event has taken place.

The following documentation must be included with your report:

  • Sample of the lottery ticket used for the event
  • Copies of all deposit slips related to the event
  • A list of winners
  • Receipts for each expense incurred
  • A copy of the cancelled cheque(s) (i.e. beneficiary of the lottery proceeds)
