The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is excited to present its first Park Hop, a family-friendly initiative encouraging families with children or grandchildren to explore the many great parks and play structures throughout Town.
“Niagara-on-the-Lake has over twenty-seven (27) well-kept public parks and green spaces with lush trees, beautiful lookouts, accessible amenities, and of course, exciting play structures for kids,” stated Lord Mayor Betty Disero. “This Town has so much to offer families and young children, and I think a Park Hop is a great way to encourage our residents to explore what’s available right in their backyard.”
The Park Hop, set to begin Thursday, July 22, spotlights twelve (12) parks throughout Niagara-on-the-Lake, and engages children with a fun animal-themed scavenger hunt. Participants are invited to locate a different animal hiding on a sticker somewhere on or near the play structure at each park. Participants can track each animal they find on a tracker sheet that can be completed online, printed at home, or picked up at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library, located at 10 Anderson Lane, during regular operating hours.
“After many months of the Stay-at-Home Order, we’re thrilled to see residents and members of the public utilizing our parks and amenity spaces again,” stated CAO Marnie Cluckie. “We hope families enjoy this fun initiative and that many wonderful memories are made as children and adults, alike, spend time exploring our parks and play structures.”
Completed activity sheets are due by the end of the day on August 23, 2021, and can be submitted by email to parkhop@notl.com or dropped off in the front door drop box of Town Hall at 1593 Four Mile Creek Road. The submitted tracker sheets with the most correct answers will be entered into a draw, and the winner will receive a special prize!
