The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is seeking community feedback on the design concept for Phase 3 of the Heritage Trail Rehabilitation Project, which runs from Line 3 Road to Line 8 Road.
Project Background
Phase 1 of this project (from John Street to East and West Line) was completed in Fall 2021. Phase 2, from East and West Line to Line 3 Road, was completed in mid-May of 2024. This next phase involves the rehabilitation of approximately 4.22 kilometres of trail, with a limestone screening trail closely following the existing path. This design concept considers the trees and the current alignment of the existing trail. There are four planned phases to complete the trail rehabilitation from Old Town to York Road.
How to Provide Feedback
Residents are encouraged to help shape the design by visiting the project page at www.jointheconversationnotl.org/heritage-trail to provide feedback until June 13, 2025.
About the Heritage Trail Committee
The Heritage Trail Committee was formed in 2019 to preserve and rehabilitate the trail that follows the historic Erie and Ontario Railroad along Concession 1. Donations can be made online via PayPal, Debit, MasterCard and Visa, or sent to: The Heritage Trail Committee c/o of the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, PO Box 100, Virgil, Ontario, L0S 1T0. Donations of $25 and more will receive a charitable tax receipt. To learn more information about the Upper Canada Heritage Trail, visit heritagetrail.ca.
