Effective today, Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 12:01 a.m., Niagara-on-the-Lake, along with the rest of the Province, temporarily moved into Step Two of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen for a minimum of 21 days (until January 26).
“The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is committed to helping ensure residents remain safe during this new phase of the pandemic,” stated Lord Mayor Betty Disero. “I am hopeful that these temporary measures will lead to a minimized spread of COVID-19 and we will see a safe return to normalcy soon. Thank you for all you are doing to protect each other.”
“Despite impacts caused by various closures and restrictions, Staff remains committed to working with the public to achieve service goals,” stated CAO Marnie Cluckie. “The Town remains focused on continual modernization efforts to see further advancement in digital service opportunities - something that has proven to be vital amid in-person restrictions.”
As required by Provincial Regulations outlined in O. Reg. 263/20: RULES FOR AREAS IN STEP 2, certain Town facilities and services are now closed to the public.
Effective January 5, 2022, Town services are as follows:
Administration Building
- Administrative Offices are closed to in-person services, but Staff continues to be available for full-service to the public, including service by phone, e-mail, online meetings, and pre-arranged pick-up and drop-off.
- Customers are invited to call 905-468-3266 ext. 0 to speak to a Customer Experience Representative, or e-mail info@notl.com to arrange a curbside pick-up or drop-off.
Cemeteries
- The Niagara-on-the-Lake Cemetery remains open to the public.
Meridian Credit Union and Centennial Arenas
- The Meridian Credit Union and Centennial Arenas are currently closed to the public.
- The Town will follow Provincial Regulations and consult with Niagara Public Health before reopening its facilities to ensure it is safe and wise to do so.
Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre
- The Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre is currently closed to the public.
- The Town will follow Provincial Regulations and consult with Niagara Public Health before reopening its facilities to ensure it is safe and wise to do so.
Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library
- The Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library is closed to in-person services.
- Virtual programming and curbside pick-up are available.

Outdoor Amenities
- Outdoor amenities remain open for use. Use of these amenities must be done in compliance with all Provincial Orders and Public Health Recommendations, including but not limited to proper physical distancing measures, adhering to social gathering limits, and the appropriate use of masks.
- The Town encourages people to find safe ways to get outside and stay active this winter. There are many great places to walk, run, bike, and hike in Niagara-on-the-Lake throughout the winter months.
- In order to support such activity during the winter season, and particularly during snowy weather, Staff will temporarily increase service by clearing snow (in accordance with the Town’s Snow Clearing Policy) at the following locations:
- The path at the Virgil Sport Park
- The path behind the Firehall in St. Davids (Sparky’s Park)
Public Washrooms
- The Market Street public washroom, located in Old Town behind the Courthouse, is the only public washroom currently open in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This washroom is open 7-days a week from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Sweets n Swirls Café
- Sweet n Swirls Café, located within the Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre, is open for pick-up of preorders only.

Transit
- NRT OnDemand Transit continues to operate. Please visit the Niagara Region website for more information about service options.
