As another school year comes to a close, the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is recognizing and thanking local students, teachers, administrators, and school staff for their continued engagement and partnership throughout the academic year.
Throughout the school year, the Town had the opportunity to connect with students and educators through a variety of initiatives, including:
- January 12 – The Lord Mayor and Council Members visited Crossroads Public School’s Grade 5 class for a presentation on municipal government, the different levels of government and their roles.
- February 5 – St. David's School Grade 5 students attended Town Hall for a mock Council Meeting, tour, and municipal government activity.
- May 12 – Spencer Mitchell from St. Michael Catholic School presented his mental health fair project at the Committee of the Whole – General meeting.
- May 26 – Kayla Thwaites and Zach Neufeld from Crossroads Public School attended a Council Meeting to present their Heritage Fair Presentations.
- June 16 – Hunter Froese and Mr. Hosinger, on behalf of Eli Perng from St. David Public School, presented their Heritage Fair Presentations.
- June 22 – Deputy Lord Mayor and Staff visited Crossroads Public School Grade 5 class for a mock Council Meeting and municipal government activity.
These experiences provided great opportunities for students to learn more about local government, community services, and civic participation, while also allowing Town Staff and Council to hear directly from young residents.
As students begin their summer break, the Town extends a thank-you to all students, teachers, and school communities for another successful year of collaboration and engagement. We wish everyone a safe, enjoyable, and well-deserved summer break!
