Media Release - Heritage Trail Committee Installs New Plaques on Charlotte Street

The dedication of two new plaques marks the generous corporate and individual donations to Phase 1 of the Heritage Trail

Yesterday, Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Heritage Trail Committee installed two new plaques to the anchor rocks on the side of the Heritage Trail on Charlotte Street to recognize and thank corporate and individual donors.

“The Upper Canada Heritage Trail Rehabilitation has been an incredible undertaking, and I am so pleased to see this 10-kilometre trail be restored,” stated Lord Mayor Betty Disero. “Niagara-on-the-Lake is known for its fantastic trails and paths, and I know that this location is a favourite amenity for both residents and visitors to the community.”

The first bronze plaque was unveiled in September at the entrance of John and King Street to mark the completion of Phase 1. These two new plaques are intended to acknowledge the generous corporate and individual donations to Phase 1 of the Trail.

“The Heritage Trail lies within Ontario’s Greenbelt, making it a permanently protected area of green space in Niagara-on-the-Lake,” stated CAO Marnie Cluckie. “I am so pleased with how effectively this rehabilitation project has progressed and would like to thank the Heritage Trail Committee, Town Staff, and all of the incredibly generous donors and sponsors for propelling this project forward.”
