On March 6, 2026, Town Planning Staff and the Town’s legal counsel attended an Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) settlement hearing regarding the Glendale Secondary Plan. Three separate appeals had been filed following Council’s adoption of the Plan.
At the hearing, the Tribunal reviewed the settlement agreements reached with all three appellants. After considering the settlements, the OLT issued an oral decision approving the Glendale Secondary Plan, as amended through those settlements and as previously directed by Council.
The Secondary Plan, as amended through the settlements, is now considered to be in force and effect.
The settlements did not change the overall vision or purpose of the Secondary Plan. The Plan continues to guide long-term growth in the Glendale area by:
- Supporting a mix of housing, employment, and commercial uses;
- Planning for new streets, parks, and community infrastructure;
- Protecting natural heritage features; and,
- Supporting economic growth and tourism in the area.
With the appeals resolved, the Secondary Plan now provides the policy framework that will guide future development applications in the Glendale urban area.
