The nomination period for Niagara-on-the-Lake’s 2026 Municipal and School Board Election officially closed on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
The Town Clerk/Returning Officer has received the required nomination papers, endorsements, declarations and fees from the following registered candidates for Niagara-on-the-Lake Council.

Registered candidates have also been identified for the District School Board of Niagara, Niagara Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire Viamonde and Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir trustee positions. The election will now move into the next phase, and candidates may begin displaying election signs on Thursday, August 27, in accordance with applicable election sign regulations.
Internet voting will be available beginning Monday, October 5, at 10:00 a.m. and will remain open until Sunday, October 25, at 8:00 p.m. In-person advance voting will take place at Town Hall on Wednesday, October 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre on Saturday, October 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Election Day is Monday, October 26, 2026, with voting available from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Qualified electors can “Vote Anywhere” at any Niagara-on-the-Lake polling location on Election Day. Official election results will be released on Tuesday, October 27.
