At tonight’s Committee of the Whole – General Meeting, Council will review the 2024 Summary Report on the Town’s Drinking Water Systems. The report confirms that Niagara-on-the-Lake’s drinking water systems once again received perfect inspection scores from the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP).
Both the Niagara-on-the-Lake and Bevan Heights Distribution System achieved 100% inspection ratings, reinforcing the Town’s dedication to providing safe, high-quality drinking water.
The Town maintains about 200 kilometres of water pipes, 1,410 fire hydrants, and 1,402 valves. In 2024, 542 water samples were tested for bacteria, and all were clear of E. coli. One sample had low levels of other bacteria, but follow-up tests confirmed the water was safe. 1380 tests checked chlorine levels, all within the safe range.
The 2024 Summary Report is available on the Town’s website, and residents are encouraged to review it to learn more about the measures in place to ensure the safety and reliability of their drinking water. The report includes the 2024 Summary Report on the Town’s Drinking Water Systems, which provides details on compliance, water quality testing, risk assessments, and infrastructure improvements. Read the Report.
