Halfway Through 2026: Niagara-on-the-Lake Highlights Community Investments and Your Tax Dollars at Work

Image

As the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake reaches the midpoint of 2026, residents are seeing the results of this year's budget investments taking shape across the community. Projects funded through the Town's 2026 Budget are helping strengthen neighbourhoods, improve public spaces, and support the services residents rely on every day.

To increase visibility about how municipal tax dollars are being invested, the Town is placing new capital project signage at key project sites throughout Niagara-on-the-Lake. While most signs are being installed this summer, some signage will be installed later this year.

Branded under the theme "Your Investment. Our Responsibility.", the signs will provide project information, highlight community benefits, and direct residents to additional information through the Town's OpenBook budget portal

Residents will see signs at projects across Niagara-on-the-Lake, including:

  • Simcoe Park Playground Upgrade – A renewed playground designed with input from residents and aligned with the Town's long-term parks strategy.
  • Mississagua Street Reconstruction – Full road reconstruction, underground infrastructure upgrades, active transportation improvements, decorative lighting, and streetscape enhancements.
  • Regent Street Culvert Replacement – Critical infrastructure renewal to improve safety, reduce maintenance requirements, and support active transportation.
  • Virgil Sports Park Swings and Rubber Surface – New swing amenities and an accessible rubberized play surface to improve recreation opportunities for all ages and abilities.
  • Line 2 Road Reconstruction (Niagara Stone Road to Concession 6 Road) – Road reconstruction, stormwater improvements, and traffic calming measures to improve safety and accessibility, particularly near Crossroads Public School.
  • Sparky's Park Basketball Court Expansion – Expansion from a half-court to a full-size basketball court, supporting active living and increased recreational opportunities (late 2026/early 2027).
  • Line 3 Road Reconstruction (Concession 3 Road to Concession 4 Road) – Road reconstruction and watermain improvements designed to improve safety, support active transportation, and extend infrastructure lifespan.
  • Line 7 Road Watermain Replacement – Upgrades to aging water infrastructure that will improve water quality, fire protection, reliability, and future capacity.

These projects represent just a few examples of how the Town is investing in recreation, accessibility, transportation infrastructure, public safety, and quality of life for residents across all communities.

The Town encourages residents to look for the new project signs throughout the community and to follow capital project progress and budget investments through the Town's OpenBook portal at notl.openbook.questica.com.
