Niagara-on-the-Lake Invites Public Input on Mississagua Street Reconstruction

The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is inviting community members to attend a Public Information Centre (PIC) regarding the proposed reconstruction of Mississagua Street between Mary Street and Queen Street.

The PIC will provide an opportunity for the community to learn more about the proposed design, ask questions, and share feedback before construction begins, anticipated in summer or fall 2026.

The project includes the full reconstruction of Mississagua Street and several infrastructure upgrades, including watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer improvements. The design follows the Town’s Urban Street Design Guidelines and incorporates a roadway cross-section utilizing a combination of ditches and swales.

Additional project features include active transportation improvements such as paved shoulders/bike lanes and sidewalk enhancements, as well as the conversion of overhead utilities, including Bell and Cogeco, to underground infrastructure. Decorative post-top streetlighting will also be installed as part of the streetscape improvements.

The project design also prioritizes the preservation of existing healthy mature non-invasive trees wherever possible. At the intersection of Queen Street and Mississagua Street, the design proposes a permanent bump-out feature with decorative landscaping that reflects the current intersection configuration.

Residents are encouraged to attend the Public Information Centre to view the proposed design and speak directly with Town Staff and consulting engineers, R.V. Anderson Associates Ltd:

  • Date: Monday, March 30, 2026
  • Time: 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Location: Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre, Simpson Room (14 Anderson Lane)
