UPDATE | Due to inclement weather and for public safety, the Community Centre and Arenas will close to the public at 12:00 p.m. today (Thursday, January 15).
The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake advises that all Town Administration Buildings are closed to the public today, Thursday, January 15, 2026, due to inclement weather and to ensure the safety of Staff travelling to work. During this time, in-person services at Town Hall will not be available.
While Town Hall is closed, several Staff will be working remotely to maintain service continuity. Emails sent to info@notl.com will continue to be received and responded to, and service requests will continue to be accepted and processed. For urgent matters, the Town’s emergency line remains available at 905-682-2704.
The Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre, as well as the Meridian and Credit Union Arenas, remain open at this time. Operations will be closely monitored throughout the day, and should conditions change, updates will be shared through the Town’s website and official social media channels on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
The Town would like to recognize and thank Town crews who have been out since early this morning, sanding and plowing roads to help keep travel as safe as possible. With snow expected to continue throughout the day, residents are reminded that it may take some time for snowplows to reach all streets. If possible, residents are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel.
Residents can support the Town’s winter storm response by:
- Keeping streets clear of parked vehicles to allow for safe and effective snowplow operations.
- Ensuring snow is not piled onto roadways. When clearing driveways, residents are asked to pile snow on the right-hand side of the driveway when facing the street to reduce snow being pushed back by plows.
- Keeping fire hydrants clear and accessible, as access may be critical in the event of an emergency.
- Keeping storm drains clear to help prevent localized flooding.
Town Administration Buildings are expected to reopen tomorrow, Friday, January 16, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. The Town appreciates residents’ patience and understanding as community and staff safety remain the top priority.
For immediate alerts, follow the Town on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
