The Town is seeking dependable and safety-conscious Seasonal Labourers in the Parks Division to perform a variety of labourer tasks. Duties include day-to-day maintenance of Town parks and gardens, maintenance of public washrooms, and waste collection. These are front-line positions, and the successful candidates will be expected to act courteously, professionally, and take pride in maintaining the Town’s reputation for beautiful parks and gardens.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain parks, gardens, and public spaces, including horticultural care, planting, pruning, and general upkeep.
  • Perform waste collection and custodial duties, including maintaining public washrooms.
  • Operate and maintain parks vehicles and horticultural equipment safely (push mowers, trimmers, and other gardening/maintenance tools).
  • Assist with general maintenance projects and special events as required.
  • Follow all safety protocols, Town policies, and equipment maintenance procedures.
  • Represent the Town in a professional and courteous manner.

Qualifications

  • Completion of high school education.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a similar field.
  • Valid Class G Driver’s Licence.
  • Experience performing waste collection, custodial duties, and maintaining public washrooms.
  • Experience with vehicle operation and horticultural maintenance equipment, including understanding basic equipment maintenance.
  • Training and experience in horticulture.
  • Landscape Exterminator pesticide licence is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Work starting as early as April and ending as late as November.
  • Up to 44 hours per week; hours, start dates, and schedules may vary by position.
  • Weekend, holiday, and evening work may be required.
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Driver’s abstract required prior to starting work.
