I am aware that information circulating on social media has suggested that the St. Davids roundabout project has been cancelled. Niagara Region has confirmed to the Town that this information is incorrect.
The Region has advised the Town that the project has been deferred through its capital budget planning process, allowing higher-priority infrastructure investments to advance in the near term while work on the broader St. Davids improvements continues, including important enhancements to pedestrian infrastructure.
The project has not been cancelled. Residents deserve accurate information, particularly on matters that have generated significant public interest. During an election period, it is especially important that information shared with the community is based on confirmed facts and primary sources rather than speculation or assumptions.
I encourage residents seeking information about major infrastructure projects to consult Niagara Region and the Town directly. Official sources remain the most reliable way to understand project status, decisions, timelines, and next steps.
While certain components and the timing of the broader project have been deferred through Niagara Region’s capital planning process, the overall St. Davids roundabout project has not been cancelled, and important elements of the planned improvements continue to advance.
The Town will continue to share verified information as further updates become available.
Warm regards,
Gary Zalepa
Lord Mayor
