NOTL Community Centre & Arenas Reopen to Rentals

Effective immediately, the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is welcoming user groups back to the Community Centre and Centennial and Meridian Credit Union Arenas, as permitted in Provincial regulations, by reopening for room and ice rentals and programming.

This is the first time programming and room rentals have been available at the Community Centre since it first closed on March 13, 2020, due to Provincial Emergency Orders related to COVID-19.

"This is great news for Niagara-on-the-Lake teams, clubs and organizations, many of whom have not been able to meet in person for a year-and-a-half," stated Lord Mayor Betty Disero. "Congratulations and a big thank you to Town Staff for putting the proper protocols in place to allow people to safely resume much-needed social and athletic activities. I am confident the public will follow these protocols to protect themselves and one another, so we can all enjoy our facilities in a safe and healthy way."

The Community Centre and Arenas are subject to maximum capacities depending on the size of the space, the needs of the group, and the type of activity. Capacities are posted outside of each room. Visitors and Staff must continue to maintain a 2-metre physical distance from one another. Public skating is not yet available. User groups may be subject to additional safety requirements.

“We are committed to safeguarding the health of our citizens while also ensuring that all permitted services are available and accessible,” stated CAO Marnie Cluckie. “Niagara-on-the-Lake is a vibrant community, and we look forward to seeing activities return to our Community Centre and Arenas safely.”

The health and safety of customers and Staff remain the Town’s number one priority. As such, protocols have been implemented to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. All persons entering the Community Centre and Arenas must comply with the following:

  • Be actively screened by a Staff member upon entry, or complete the Town’s screening tool at notl.com/screening in advance and show proof to Staff member upon entry;
  • Maintain a safe physical distance of at least 2 metres from other persons at all times;
  • Wear a face covering at all times unless engaged in an athletic activity (exemptions apply);
  • Program organizers are required to actively screen all participants (in addition to being screened by Staff upon entry);
  • Ice rental organizers must keep attendance records for up to thirty (30) days past the rental date.

Additionally, surfaces, high-touch points, change rooms, showers, and fitness equipment will frequently be cleaned and/or disinfected. A facility safety plan is available for review upon request. Please note that all rules and requirements are subject to change based on Provincial regulations, Public Health guidelines, and any potential impending vaccination mandates or policies.
