Residents of Niagara-on-the-Lake,
I want to take a moment to acknowledge a deeply troubling incident that affected our community on the evening of Friday, December 19. Niagara Regional Police were called to investigate a break and enter and a sexual assault involving a young person in Town. Detectives are actively following leads and seeking the public’s assistance as they work to identify the suspect.
First and foremost, my thoughts are with the victim and their loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time. The Town takes matters of safety and well-being very seriously, supports the Niagara Regional Police Service's ongoing investigation and encourages anyone with information to come forward.
Safety, in our homes, on our streets, and in our community, is a shared priority. I want to thank our local police officers for their response and continued dedication to protecting our neighbourhoods.
Thank you to those in our community for coming together in care and compassion. Let us continue to look out for one another.
Please refer to the Niagara Regional Police Service media release for more information. Anyone with information or video surveillance from the area of Wall Road and Four Mile Creek Road between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. is asked to contact the police at 905-688-4111, select option 3, and extension 1009519.
Sincerely,
Lord Mayor
