Get ready to play a round of golf, Niagara-on-the-Lake! The Town's 24th annual Golf Classic Tournament date has been set.
The tournament's details are as follows:
- Date: Thursday, September 12, 2024
- Time: 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Location: Royal Niagara Golf Club in Glendale (1 Niagara-on-the-Green Boulevard).
Each year, this tournament is organized and led by a Committee of Town Staff and residents with the help of a major sponsor. This year’s major sponsor is Brock Ford, and as always, the tournament will include a day of golf, prizes, and a dinner at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre (14 Anderson Lane) at 5:30 p.m.
"The Town’s annual Golf Classic Tournament is not just about golf, but also about bringing the community together for a good cause," stated Lord Mayor Gary Zalepa. “It's a great opportunity to meet new people, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and contribute to the betterment of the Niagara-on-the-Lake community. On behalf of Council, thank you to Staff and the Committee for their efforts!"
This year's event proceeds will go toward "Play in the Park," a free, unstructured drop-in initiative to engage children, youth, and adults in outdoor play. A trailer equipped with portable playground equipment (soccer, basketball, spike ball, badminton, frisbee, boccia, disc golf, lacrosse, volleyball, baseball, corn hole, ultimate frisbee and more) will travel to various locations, bringing new and interesting sports and opportunities to Niagara-on-the-Lake parks. More information and a full summer calendar are coming soon!
"The Town is enthusiastic about this annual event and hopes to see increased participation from Niagara-on-the-Lake residents," stated CAO Bruce Zvaniga. "Thank you to Town Staff and the Committee for ensuring a successful event each year. The Town looks forward to seeing you on the course!"
