Media Release - Niagara-on-the-Lake to Present Key to the Town to Trisha Romance

The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake will present the inaugural Key to the Town to renowned artist and long-time resident Trisha Romance in a public ceremony on Sunday, September 15, 2024. 

The symbolic “Key to the Town” is an honour presented by the Lord Mayor and Council to recognize Trisha’s talent and passion, which have positively contributed to the cultural and economic vitality of Niagara-on-the-Lake. This honour also celebrates the 40th anniversary of Trisha’s first local gallery at 177 King Street.

The Town recognizes Trisha Romance as a significant member of the Niagara-on-the-Lake community whose world-renowned art has inspired many to visit and appreciate the Town’s unique charm. Her work has given the world a glimpse into life in Niagara-on-the-Lake, significantly contributing to its cultural and artistic heritage. Trisha has won numerous awards, including the Order of Ontario and the Canadian Artist of the Year Award for four consecutive years (1995-1998), with her paintings featured in over 400 galleries across North America.

As a philanthropist, Trisha has raised thousands of dollars for charitable organizations including Sick Kids, The Epilepsy Research Fund of Canada, American military families and countless others.

The celebration will feature remarks from local dignitaries, an inaugural Key to the Town presentation, and a showcase of Trisha Romance paintings in the Old Court House.  Members of the public are invited to attend. Registration for the event is not required.
