Media Release - Niagara-on-the-Lake Parks and Recreation Master Plan: Shaping the Future of Community Spaces

The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is proud to announce the launch of its public engagement opportunities for its Parks and Recreation Master Plan, a comprehensive initiative designed to enhance and expand the community's parks, recreation, and facilities for current and future generations. This forward-thinking plan is critical to creating vibrant, accessible, and functional recreational spaces that benefit all residents.

“Our parks and recreational facilities are the heart of our community. This Master Plan is a testament to our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all residents of Niagara-on-the-Lake,” stated Lord Mayor Gary Zalepa. “By investing in our parks and recreation facilities, we are investing in our community’s future health, happiness, and well-being. On behalf of Council, I encourage all residents to provide feedback at the various stages of engagement.”

The development of the Master Plan will include several stages of engagement, with Phase One kicking off this summer. This initial phase will involve public information centres and a survey to gather input and ideas from residents. Active participation from the community is crucial to the plan’s success, ensuring that it aligns with the values and needs of those who use these spaces. Based on input from the public, the Plan may include revitalized park spaces, enhanced recreational facilities, new program offerings, and more.

“The success of a Parks and Recreation Master Plan relies heavily on the input and involvement of residents. The Town is excited to embark on this process, ensuring that our community spaces reflect Niagara-on-the-Lake’s diverse needs and desires,” stated CAO Bruce Zvaniga. “Thank you to Staff for their efforts in seeing this engagement process through.”

The Town invites all residents to get involved in this exciting initiative and help shape the future of our recreation. Stay tuned for more details on upcoming engagement opportunities and how you can contribute to this transformative project.
