The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is thrilled to join the Niagara Region in welcoming more than 5,000 athletes, coaches, and support staff to the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games. The Games will take place across Niagara from August 6 to 21, 2022, providing an excellent opportunity for Canadians to gather together to celebrate sports as athletes compete at 18 venues across the Region.

The Niagara-on-the-Lake Tennis Club, located at Memorial Park, and the Niagara-on-the-Lake Sailing Club, located along the Niagara River on Melville Street, will serve as venues for tennis and sailing events.

“I’m overjoyed that we will soon get to welcome the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games to Niagara-on-the-Lake,” stated Lord Mayor Betty Disero. “I know our community will welcome tennis and sailing athletes, coaches, staff, and supporters with open arms as we proudly showcase the spirit and charm of Niagara-on-the-Lake.”

Some Town facilities will be briefly impacted as a result of the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games activities. The public pool, tennis courts, and baseball diamond located in Memorial Park will be closed to the public from August 3 to 15 to accommodate the tennis events. The soccer fields and playground at Memorial Park will remain open. Residents are encouraged to park elsewhere if visiting Memorial Park, as public parking will be limited from August 3 to 15.

Taking place from August 17 to 21, sailing events will have minimal impact on the surrounding area. Parking will be limited, and those attending are encouraged to park on Ricardo Street and Melville Street.

“What an honour it is to host the Games right here in Niagara-on-the-Lake,” stated CAO Marnie Cluckie. “This is a great opportunity to showcase our beautiful Town and facilities and encourage local support of our Canadian athletes.”
