Media Release - Election Day – Get out and Vote!

Today is Election Day for Niagara-on-the-Lake’s 2022 Municipal and School Board Election. Electors can vote at any of the following polling locations from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.:

  • Holiday Inn Express (524 York Road)
  • Laura Secord Homestead (29 Queenston Street)
  • Crossroads Public School (1350 Niagara Stone Road)
  • St. Davids Public School (1344 York Road)
  • Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre (14 Anderson Lane)

All polling locations will be open until 8:00 p.m., and those waiting in line to vote by 8:00 p.m. will be permitted to vote. Assistive Voting Technology will be available for those who need it at Crossroad Public School and the Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre.

Institutional voting will take place at all Niagara-on-the-Lake long-term care homes today and is only open to residents of such homes. To find out when voting is available at a specific long-term care home, please speak with your home’s programming coordinator.

When voting, electors are encouraged to bring their Voter Card and/or a government-issued piece of ID with their municipal address. Those who did not receive a Voter Card or have a Voter Card error can still vote. Changes to Voter Cards can be made at any polling location today.

For those seeking transportation assistance to vote, NRT OnDemand Transit rides are free today for anyone travelling to and from a polling location. To arrange a ride, please call 1-855-521-1088 or download the OnDemand App. For more information on booking a ride, please visit https://niagararegion.ca/transit/on-demand/booking.aspx.

The Community Centre auditorium will be open after 8:00 p.m., when polls are closed, to allow the public to view the live results of the Election. Since the Community Centre auditorium is a polling location, the Town is unable to provide access to the auditorium earlier than 8:00 p.m. and kindly requests that the public does not arrive earlier than this.

Residents can view the unverified election results on the website (www.notl.com) after the polls close and the results are received. The official results of the Election will be declared as soon as possible after Election Day.

Niagara-on-the-Lake saw 2,809 of its 16,102 eligible voters cast their vote during Advance Polls. Keep up the great work Niagara-on-the-Lake, and get out and vote today!
