Yesterday's storm marked the second major flooding event to impact Niagara-on-the-Lake in less than two weeks. We know many residents, businesses and members of our agricultural community are once again facing the difficult task of cleaning up after significant flooding, and we recognize how physically and emotionally exhausting that can be.
While Niagara-on-the-Lake experienced significant rainfall, including localized amounts exceeding 110 mm, this weather system affected communities across Niagara. The volume and intensity of rainfall overwhelmed already impacted infrastructure in many areas, resulting in localized flooding throughout our community.
Please know that Town Staff have been working around the clock since the storm began and remain fully committed to supporting our community through recovery.
What the Town is Doing
Recovery efforts are well underway, with Staff continuing to:
- Assess damage across the community and identify areas affected by overland flooding.
- Clear debris, fallen trees and localized flooding.
- Monitor wastewater infrastructure and continue bypass pumping operations.
- Respond to resident service requests and prioritize areas requiring immediate attention.
- Work closely with NOTL Hydro, Niagara Region, emergency responders and other partner agencies.
- Track all storm-related response costs and document impacts to support potential disaster recovery funding applications.
- Advocate with the Province for financial assistance to help support affected residents, businesses and the agricultural community.
Cleanup continues in areas that experienced localized flooding while crews remove fallen trees, clear debris and inspect infrastructure. All municipal roads are currently open.
Community Support
Residents who require access to shower or washroom facilities are welcome to visit:
- Memorial Pool – 317 King Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake
- St. Davids Pool – 1446 York Road, St. Davids
These facilities offer the greatest availability of shower facilities and are located closest to the areas most affected by flooding. Staff are also on site and available to assist residents.

If your property has been affected, please report it to the Town, even if the water has already receded. Every report helps Staff understand the full extent of impacts across the community, prioritize recovery efforts, document areas affected by overland flooding, and strengthen applications for potential provincial disaster assistance.
