NOTL Presents Skateboard Open House

The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is excited to present a Skatepark Open House on September 18, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., at the Skatepark located within the Virgil Sportspark.

This free event, funded through a grant received by the Town through the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge Program, is geared toward beginners and will include live skateboard demonstrations and on-site, one-on-one support lessons provided by CJ’s Skatepark. The goal of this event is to educate attendees on the sport of skateboarding and promote skateboarding safety.

“This is a great way to celebrate the one-year anniversary of our local skatepark, a location where we’ve seen our community, primarily our youth and children, come together to practice and perfect a sport that they love,” stated Lord Mayor Betty Disero.

“I am so pleased to see that Staff secured this grant through ParticipACTION, and that we can use it to highlight our well-used, well-loved skatepark and promote skateboard safety,” stated CAO Marnie Cluckie.

All COVID-19 restrictions and safety measures, including physical distancing, and mask use, as required, will be adhered to during the event.

For more information about this event and register for a one-on-one lesson (spaces limited), please visit notl.com/skateparkopenhouse. Registration is not required to attend the demonstration. Full pads and skateboards will be available for use for those in attendance, pending a signed use waiver. Youth who want to participate are encouraged to bring their own protective equipment.
