Relay begins at Fort George National Historic Site, 51 Queens Parade, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON L0S 1J0
The first leg of the Relay begins at Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and the route follows the scenic path along the lower Niagara River. There is a staggered start, so teams of different speeds end up close together at the finish.
Team members will run or jog their mile, passing the baton to the next team member a mile up the path. Support vehicles pick them up after they finish their mile. They cheer on their team at other following exchange points.
The Relay finishes at Oakes Park in Niagara Falls. Two laps around the track at the end of the last runner’s mile, and teams will cheer them to the finish line. Refreshments and a short awards ceremony mark the end of the event (close to noon).
