Niagara-on-the-Lake Launches Public Engagement for Comprehensive Parking Study

The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is inviting members of the public to help shape the future of parking across the community as part of its Comprehensive Parking Study.

The study will examine parking conditions across the Town’s five urban areas to better understand current and future needs and identify opportunities to improve parking availability, accessibility, operations and long-term sustainability. It will assess whether the existing municipal parking supply is appropriate and explore ways to improve how parking is delivered and managed over the long term. The study will also consider how parking can better support active transportation and other travel options while enhancing the overall experience for residents and visitors.

The Town has retained LEA Consulting Ltd. to complete the study and develop recommendations that align with Niagara-on-the-Lake's long-term planning priorities.

"We know parking affects how people experience our community," said Lord Mayor Gary Zalepa. "That's why we're encouraging everyone to take a few minutes to complete the survey and share their ideas. Your feedback will help ensure future recommendations reflect the needs and priorities of our community."

Community members can participate in a survey for residents/visitors and/or a survey for business owners/employees until September 30 on the Town's Join the Conversation site. The survey is part of a broader engagement period, which will also include pop-up events, stakeholder workshops and a Public Information Centre. These opportunities will provide multiple ways for residents, businesses and other stakeholders to share their experiences and perspectives. More information is available in the project timeline.

"Public engagement is an essential part of this study," said CAO Nick Ruller. "By hearing directly from our community, we can better understand local parking needs and develop practical recommendations that support Niagara-on-the-Lake's future."

Those interested can complete the survey, learn more about the project, and stay informed by visiting the project page. Updates will also be shared through the Town's social media channels.

The Town looks forward to hearing from the community as work continues on the Comprehensive Parking Study.
