
Niagara-on-the-Lake is thrilled to host the annual Sports Wall of Fame Ceremony. This event honours individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the Town’s sports community or achieved significant athletic accomplishments.
The Town is excited to announce that the 2024 inductees are Wynand Groen, a coach of many athletes, particularly with basketball, and Katherine Smith, a lawn bowling medalist!
“Sports are an important part of our community, uniting residents of all ages," stated Lord Mayor Gary Zalepa. "They promote unity, teamwork, discipline, and bring people together. On behalf of Town Council, I wish to congratulate Wynand Groen and Katherine Smith for this great accomplishment and a warm welcome to the Sports Wall of Fame!”
The public is invited to attend this ceremony to celebrate these two inductees, who have played a pivotal role in shaping our community’s vibrant sporting culture. Join the Town to learn more about their sporting accomplishments! Details are as follows:
- Date: Friday, August 16, 2024
- Location: Meridian Credit Union Arena (1567 Four Mile Creek Road, Virgil) in the front lobby.
- Time: The social starts at 5:00 p.m., which includes food and drinks, and the ceremony will follow at 6:00 p.m.
- Registration is not required.
