Media Release - Niagara-on-the-Lake Invites Feedback on the Temporary Patio Program

The Temporary Patio Program was introduced in the summer of 2020 to support hospitality sector businesses and workers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. At the January 31, 2023, Council Meeting, Town Council agreed to extend the Temporary Patio Program for the 2023 season and directed Staff to undertake a review of the Program, facilitate public engagement, and report back to Council.

The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is reaching out to business owners, patio operators, residents and visitors for feedback about the Patio Program. The public is invited to engage and provide feedback on the Program in the following ways:

  • Complete the online survey at www.jointheconversationnotl.org/patio-program. The survey will be open from August 14 to September 8
    • Sign up to participate in a future focus group session at the end of the Join the Conversation survey. Respondents will be randomly selected for this focus group. Town Staff will contact those individuals with more details.
  • Drop in at the in-person Public Information Centre (PIC) on Monday, August 28, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Courthouse (26 Queen Street)

"The Town's Patio Program has provided great benefits and support to those in the business community who own and operate a patio," stated Lord Mayor Gary Zalepa. " I look forward to reviewing, with Council, the results of the public engagement and Staff’s recommendations.

"Since the implementation of the Town's Patio Program, the Town has seen success for the business community and an enhancement to the overall Niagara-on-the-Lake experience for residents and visitors," stated CAO Marnie Cluckie. "Feedback from the community is extremely valuable, and I encourage the public to participate in one of the multiple engagement opportunities.”
