The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Fire & Emergency Services is proud to present the 2021 Fire & Emergency Services Annual Report to the residents and the community.

Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire & Emergency Services responded to over 700 incidents throughout 2021, including 50 carbon monoxide alarms, 186 fire alarms, 192 medical calls, 101 fires, 123 motor vehicle collisions and 75 assistance calls.

“The Town’s Fire & Emergency Services is a hardworking, committed team,” stated Lord Mayor Betty Disero. “Our volunteer firefighters are dedicated to our residents, fire safety and prevention, and continuous learning and training initiatives. On behalf of Council, thank you for your dedication to the safety and wellbeing of our community.”

2021 presented unique challenges due to the pandemic that affected the traditional public education and community outreach programs that Fire & Emergency Services would typically do. The team found creative ways to stay engaged with the community, such as hosting virtual station tours to classrooms at St. Michael’s, St. Davids and Crossroads Elementary Schools, providing students with an alternative to an in-person experience of visiting the Firehall.

“Thank you to our devoted and resilient group of firefighters; their commitment to safety shines through in all the work they accomplish,” stated CAO Marnie Cluckie. “This enthusiastic group of individuals is passionate about community safety and dedicated to learning about fire safety and prevention. We sincerely appreciate  their selfless contributions to the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake!”

Volunteer firefighters participated in 10,748 hours of training and professional development in 2021, ensuring the highest level of service possible for the residents and visitors to our community.
