The Seasonal Operations Labourer (Parks) is required to perform labourer tasks in the Parks Division of the Operations Department. Duties will include the day-to-day maintenance of the Town parks and gardens. This is a front line position and the successful candidate will be expected to act in a courteous, polite and professional manner and take pride in their job in maintaining the Town’s reputation for having beautiful parks and gardens.
Successful candidates will have:
- Completion of high school
- 1-3 years’ experience in a similar field
- Valid class G drivers license
- Training and experience in horticulture is considered an asset
- Landscape Exterminator pesticide licence is an asset
- Experience with vehicle operation, gardening and parks maintenance equipment, including an understanding of equipment maintenance
- Experience performing waste collection, custodial duties and maintaining public washrooms
The successful candidate will be required to work the fall season. The position will start as soon as the successful candidate is available and will conclude at the end of November. Hours of work will vary, and consist of up to 44 hours per week. Weekend, holiday and evening work may be required. A driver’s abstract is required prior to starting work.
