Niagara College’s Research & Innovation Division provides real-world solutions for business, key industry sectors and the community through applied research and knowledge transfer activities. These projects provide innovative solutions, such as producing and testing prototypes, evaluating new technologies, and developing new or improved products or processes for small- and medium-sized businesses.
Brock Innovation and Commercialization
Brock Innovation & Commercialization manages research and innovation relationships between members of Brock University and the commercial sector. They help to bring intellectual property to market, put in place partnerships for research, assist professors and students with new ventures, and provide academic extension services and consultancy.
Canadian Food and Wine Institute Innovation Centre (CFWI)
The Canadian Food & Wine Institute Innovation Centre services to support the industry through innovation and commercialization of new products and processes. From new recipe development to shelf-life testing and nutritional labelling, the CFWI pairs industry partners with faculty, recent graduates and students with the right expertise and equipment to meet business needs.
Cairns Family Heath and Bioscience Complex
The Cairns Family Health Bioscience Complex supports 400 students, faculty, scientists and researchers from the Faculties of Applied Health Sciences, Mathematics, Science, and Social Sciences at Brock University. It provides space for programs in chemistry, biomedical research, molecular biology, medical studies, and biocontainment. There is a focus placed on research and entrepreneurship and bringing new medical ideas and technologies into the Canadian market.
Innovate Niagara
Innovate Niagara is one of 17 Regional Innovation Centres (RIC) in Ontario. It is a one-stop resource for entrepreneurs in high growth sectors that includes a network of business incubators and service providers. The RIC supports a variety of industries to start, grow and succeed.
Niagara Angel Network
The Niagara Angel Network is an active angel investor group that has invested over $15 million in early-stage companies. The group is an independent consortium of over 40 individual accredited angel investors mainly from Niagara, and throughout Southern Ontario.
Southern Ontario Network for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation (SONAMI)
SONAMI is a network of colleges and one university, who, through their respective RIC’s, are working together with small and medium-sized companies to turn innovations into commercialized products. SONAMI leverages faculty, students, and state-of-the-market equipment, together with funding from the Federal Economic Development Agency (FedDev), to support manufacturing in southern Ontario.

Vineland Research and Innovation Centre (Vineland) is a world-class research centre dedicated to horticultural science and innovation. They deliver innovative products, solutions, and services through an integrated and collaborative cross-country network to advance Canada’s research and commercialization agenda.
Walkers Advanced Manufacturing innovation Centre
Niagara College’s Walker Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre team specializes in engineering design, 3D technologies, lean manufacturing processes and additive manufacturing. They work with Southern Ontario businesses to bring ideas to life, from concept through to developing working prototypes, utilizing leading-edge technology, including equipment and software.
